verzichten kann: DO IT!
In
doll an meinem Körper gemerkt habe.

Hello
you dear ones,
most
of you might have noticed through Instagram that I spent two weeks in
Greenville, North Carolina, visiting my best friend from high school. She got
in engaged in February and I got the honor to be one of the bridesmaids! <3
(As
soon as I get pictures from the photographer, I'll post about the wedding
itself, because I think American weddings are very special!)
So I
came up with the idea to write about how to handle all the partying, drinking
and staying skinny thing. I'm usually a person who pays lots of attention to a
healthy lifestyle, but at the same time I like to go out with my friends
(whenever I don't have exams going on). Cooperating partying and living a
healthy lifestyle is pretty hard, so if you can give up on alcohol: DO IT! I
think it's the worst you can do to your body. Nonethenless I figured out some
tricks how to deal with it over the past few years which I'd like to share :)
This
time in America I counted calories 2 weeks before the wedding (even though I
usually don't support counting calories), so that I wouldn't have to feel bad
about myself after the wedding weekend. I worked out, I ate often and enough so
that my metabolism wouldn't slow down too much. The wedding weekend was kinda a
cheat weekend but I still paid attention to not get too many calories from
alcohol and to eat the good healthy food (which worked fine except for the
cupcake and the smores :)))) - bu hey, weddings are once in a lifetime right?!
The
bad thing about alcohol is that it's basically poison for your body, which
highest priority it is to get rid off the poison. This means that everything
you eat after drinking alcohol will be stored as fat - because it's the easiest
for the body to store the food while it has to get rid of the alcohol and
digest it FIRST before it can do the same with food. The most imporant rule is
(even though its the hardest one also, it just tastes the best after you've had
a few drinks :D):
1. Don't eat anything after drinking alcohol! And if you can't do this at all then try at least to stay away from pommes, pizza and everything fattening. I think it's a matter of habit, I never ate after I drank alcohol until I started doing this in Hongkong - which I noticed heavenly on my body. I've stopped doing that now, I just drink lots of water and go straight to bed. Lots of girls I know that are actually kinda bigger eat a lot unhealthy things when they're drunk. I strongly believe that this is the actual reason why alcohol makes people fat and not alcohol itself in the first place.

I strongly believe that this is the actual reason why alcohol makes people fat and not alcohol itself in the first place.
2. Eat a light meal before going out. While I was living in
Hongkong I made the mistake to not eat before going out and of course I'd get
really hunger after having a few drinks. Now I try to actually eat dinner early
(around 5ish) and also to have just a salad with scampi or something like that.
This way I won't drink on an empty stomach and I avoid getting super hungry
after going out.
3. Drink lots n lots n lots of water. After going out I try to
drink 0,5 - 1 litres of water. This does not only make you feel so full that
you don't like to eat anyway, it also makes me feel so much better about myself
the next day! Alcohol dehydrates the body and drinking lots of water is SO
imporant, especially because people mistake thirst with hunger. When I wake up
the next day (and feel kinda hungry), first thing I do is drinking lots of
water - and I stop feeling hungry. After these kinda nights my stomach is
sensitive anyway so I just eat one big meal a deal which would be something
healthy. Usually its salad because my body is craving vitamins and minerals.
And lots of water :)
4. Sport. I always try (if I can) to workout
the day after going out in order to sweat out all the bad stuff. Whenever I
feel really bad I just go for 20
minutes interval runs just so I can sweat my butt off - its like an
after-partying-cure :) SWEAT - thats the main thing.
These
are my little tricks which help me to not gain too much weight from partying.
If there's a big event I try to eat the days less 1-2 weeks before its coming
up. In generel I would still tell people who are serious about losing weight: Stay away from alcohol!!!! ;)
